Big Four accounting and advisory firm KPMG has a new Senior Partner in its Ghana practice, to fill the gap left by the departure of Nii Amanor Dodoo who leaves the firm in September this year after four decades at KPMG. Anthony Sarpong will take over effective from the 1st of October this year.

Sarpong holds a degree in Administration and Accounting from the University of Ghana and a Post Graduate Diploma in business administration from The University of Manchester. Sarpong has spent his entire professional career at KPMG, where he has held a variety of roles.

He began his tenure at the firm as a Trainee Accountant in 1997, before working his way up as an Audit Senior, a Deputy Manager, a Manager and a Senior Manager. After one year as a Senior Manager – where he supervised various strategic and business advisory functions – he was promoted to the status of Partner in 2006.

Now Sarpong takes over as the Senior Partner for KPMG in Ghana. Given Ghana’s role as a major economy and a driver of growth in the region of West Africa, Sarpong will also supervise operations across Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia, which represents tremendous scale.

Sarpong’s jurisdiction extends across approximately 400 professionals, spanning the audit, tax and advisory divisions of the firms operations. KPMG’s scale of operations in Ghana make it the largest professional services firm in the country.

Commenting on his appointment, current Senior Partner Nii Amamnor Dodoo described Sarpong as “an astute and dependable leader, a professional who will provide the continued impetus for KPMG to remain the clear choice, make our clients see the difference in us; develop and train our people to continue being extraordinary; and retain the levels of trust that our communities deserve to have in us.”

“He has the breadth and depth of proven experience, leading large teams to deliver on complex projects, and the skills and experience to guide the firm as we work shoulder to shoulder with our clients. The Partners and staff of KPMG have every confidence in him to take the firm to the next expected level,” he added.
