Institute of Management Consultants inducts Chinonye Austin Ekwujuru as Fellow
The Institute of Management Consultants in Nigeria has inducted Chinonye Austin Ekwujuru as a Fellow, recognising his professional and sector-wide contributions to the field of management consulting.
The Fellow designation is a prestigious professional fellowship awarded by the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), a globally recognised body with consultative status at the United Nations. In Nigeria, the local chapter of ICMCI – the Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria (IMC) – is authorised to confer the designation.
To achieve the Fellow status, professionals must have “demonstrated exceptional consulting competence, professional excellence, and notable influence in advancing management practice in Nigeria and beyond.” The award represents the highest honour bestowed by the IMC
Formally inducted in November, Ekwujuru is a Project Manager and Research Consultant with over 7 years of experience in humanitarian work and project coordination.
He is the founder of Basic Rights Watch (BRW), a Nigeria-based non-governmental organization set up to support marginalized groups and communities. The NGO supports a number of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, with the core focus centered on promoting quality basic education in Nigeria with emphasis on young girls, who suffer disproportionately from lack of access to quality education.
Ekwujuru is also a Co-Founder of the Young Professionals in Policy and Development (YouPaD), a collective of young professionals that share their insights on issues cutting across foreign & domestic policy, peace & security, governance, and climate change.
According to the IMC, Ekwujuru’s elevation is based on his distinguished service in management consulting, including nearly a decade of work with international and local nonprofit organisations. His contributions have centred on governance reform, institutional strengthening, and integrating strategic planning into development-oriented programmes.
Speaking after his induction, Ekwujuru described the honour as a call to deeper service. “This Fellowship reaffirms my commitment to advancing ethical, globally competitive management consulting practices that strengthen institutions and drive sustainable development,” he said.
Earlier this year, the Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria also named Misan Bolorunfe and Samuel Olatunde as Fellows.
