BCG boosts East Africa presence with senior transfers Thomas Jensen and Henok Eyob
Global strategy consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has strengthened its East Africa operations through the arrival of two senior company leaders: Thomas Jensen and Henok Eyob.
Both longtime BCG’ers have recently transferred to the Nairobi office from Stockholm and New York, underscoring the firm’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Africa market.
In Africa, Boston Consulting Group has 600 consultants and staff working from offices in Cairo, Casablanca, Johannesburg, Lagos, and Nairobi. The firm was last year named among Africa’s leading consulting firms.
Thomas Jensen has been with BCG since 2000 and is a member of its Consumer and Retail practice. He has over the years held many global leadership positions in the practice and now helms the Consumer capability in Africa.
Jensen advises grocery and specialty retailers on topics including strategy, transformation, customer centric category management, omni-channel retail, operating model redesign, and digital and AI transformation.
“I am pleased to be expanding my work in East Africa and to support our clients from Nairobi. The region is undergoing significant shifts in consumer behaviour and retail innovation, and I look forward to bringing both global perspective and on the ground insight to help our clients navigate this evolution. The opportunities ahead are substantial, and I am excited to contribute to the growth of BCG’s Consumer practice across East Africa.”
Henok Eyob brings extensive experience in strategy execution, organisational transformation, and large-scale change. Since joining BCG in 2015, he has worked on projects in consumer industries, healthcare, retail, and financial services, with a focus on delivering complex transformations and performance improvement.
“I am honored to continue my work with BCG in East Africa,” said Eyob. “The region is at an important moment, as organizations across the public and private sectors work through complex transformations. Success will depend on better decisions, faster responses, and strong execution. I look forward to working with our clients to deliver lasting impact, advance innovation, and strengthen key sectors across the region.”
Commenting on the leadership appointments, Takeshi Oikawa, Managing Director & Partner and Head of BCG’s Nairobi office, said: “These appointments reflect how we continue to build leadership depth in East Africa.”
“As key sectors evolve across the region, clients increasingly require experience that combines strong global perspective with a deep understanding of local and regional contexts. This understanding informs our strategy, and we are pleased to see this unfold at a time of significant potential for the local market.”
