Tanzanian mining consultancy wins Southern African accreditation
Nesch Mintec, a mineral processing consultancy based in Mwanza, Tanzania, has won accreditation from the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (SADCAS); a pan-industry accreditation body. The recognition applauds the firm for its laboratory analytical and consulting services for the country’s mining sector.
Since being registered in 2005, SADCAS has been ensuring conformity and minimum standards for economies in the SADC countries, particularly those which do not have an accreditation body of their own such as Angola, Botswana, Tanzania, Madagascar and a range of others except South Africa and Mauritius.
As per the SADCAS, “Accreditation is the process of providing recognition to an organisation for its competence in performing specific tasks. It involves the assessment of technical competence of organisations in providing conformity assessment service(s), which include testing, certification (management systems/ product/ personnel) and inspection.”
The latest firm to win accreditation from the SADCAS is Tanzanian firm Nesch Mintec; classified in the mineral processing and extractive metallurgy sector. The firm has been recognised specifically for its consulting services to the mining industry.
Founded in 2014, Nesch Mintec is a consulting firm that offers laboratory analytical services and consultancy services in the extractive metallurgy domain. The firm works with mining companies at all stages of development; ranging from young firms looking to enter the field of mineral extraction, to mature firms looking to overcome deep-seated, industry-specific challenges.
One of the major issues that the firm tackles is the lack of credibility in the mineral tests conducted in Tanzania, leaving companies susceptible to major loss. The firm aims to lift the mining standards in the country up to an international level, as a collaborative effort with the whole region of East Africa.
Alongside laboratory analytics, the firm offers onsite analytics, process mineralogy, geomet testing, metallurgical testing, design services in the plant and tailings dam domain, mining chemical supplies, and a range of other services. The foundations of the firm lie in strategic and innovative thinking; making use of the latest in technology to deliver the highest standards of quality.
The accreditation comes at a time when the mining and commodity sectors in Africa, particularly in the less complex markets, are in dire need of innovative support, as a dip in global prices has sent many economies in the region into a nosedive over recent years. Leveraging its new credible status, Nesch Mintec will be in substantial demand within the regions mining sector.
Commenting on the progress of the firm over the four years since its founding, Chief Operating Officer for the firm, Happiness Nesvinga said, “During this time, the Nesch Mintec family and all clients all over the world have contributed to our success, which is marked by accreditation by SADCAS in the minerals sector.”
