An Eastern African banking corporation by the name of NIC Group has announced a strategic partnership with risk and compliance consulting firm Chase Cooper to help secure its cloud-based operations. The consulting firm will leverage its aCCelerate GRC enterprise risk management system to support the financial institution.

Chase Cooper is a London-based consulting firm that specialises in software solutions, particularly in the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) domain. Alongside its software and consultancy divisions, the firm also offers education and training services in the same area of expertise, often through practical workshops and international seminars.

The firm’s flagship product is its aCCelerate GRC risk management system, an innovative model designed to offer a creative and efficient solution to risk. The system follows four processes, starting with integration and analysis, and followed by the monitoring and measuring of risk.

Given its relatively short implementation cycle, aCCelerate GRC is lauded for its cost effectiveness, in addition to its cutting edge reporting capability that is incorporated within the system. The system also includes best practices from across the world, while comprising models for Scenario and ICAAP.

The solution has been leveraged to serve a number of clients, the most recent of which is Kenya-based NIC Group. The group was founded in 1959 as the National Industrial Credit Bank in Kenya, and was reorganised in September last year into a more hierarchical structure, incorporating its operations in Uganda and Tanzania, as well as its subsidiaries in the insurance, securities, capital and other domains.

As the banking sector in Africa expands, the group has been on the lookout for a reliable risk technology, and has selected aCCelerate GRC as the way to go. Endowed with the new system, the group hopes to obtain a more comprehensive overview of the varying degrees of risk posed to its operations across geographical and political borders in rapidly developing Eastern Africa.

Commenting on the selection of Chase Cooper, NIC Group’s Managing Director John Gachora said, “The aCCelerate GRC solution has depth of functionality covering Risk Control Self-Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, Internal Loss Data Management, plus Risk Intelligence tools, and this, coupled with the impressive speed and agility of Chase Cooper’s implementation process and their partnership approach, made them the clear winner in our selection process.”

John Kiddy, CEO of Chase Cooper added, “We are very excited to be working with NIC Group PLC. Their track record of innovation, success and commitment to the highest values make them a highly prestigious addition to our already broad client base in Africa which is a key region for Chase Cooper.”
