Nigerian journalist wins invite from APO Group to attend Web Summit
Global media relations consultancy APO Group – which has its primary operations in Africa and the Middle East – has awarded Nigerian journalist Frank Eleanya to attend its prestigious Web Summit in Lisbon, widely regarded as the largest technology conference across the globe.
Having obtained a BA in History and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos, Frank Eleanya has built a strong portfolio of experience in the field of journalism. He began as a reporter and researcher at Shophar Nigeria, following which he briefly worked as a freelance reporter for African Social Space Magazine.
Eleanya then moved to Lagos Magazine, where he was a freelance reporter in addition to being a research assistant to the managing editor. He has been the Head of Research at Tree & Trees, as well as the Communications and Media Manager at BLW Christ Embassy Lagos. Since 2016, he has been the Online News Editor and Digital Correspondent at Business Day in Nigeria.
In recognition for his work in the field of journalism, Eleanya has now been invited by media relations consulting firm APO Group to attend the Web Summit in Lisbon, which is being held from the 5th to the 8th of November. The firm has arranged for his travel as well as accommodation in Lisbon.
The Web Summit is regarded as one of the largest tech conferences in the world, and is attended by 1,200 speakers and more than 70,000 delegates. Alongside the wealth of knowledge on offer, the event also offers a rich networking experience, particularly for Eleanya as last year’s conference was attended by more than 2,500 journalists.
APO Group has been particularly active in promoting Africa’s media landscape across the globe, not only through events like these but also through strategic partnerships ad projects. Africa’s media landscape is set to evolve rapidly in the near future, as the sector embraces the convergence 3.0 paradigm.
Commenting on Eleanya’s invitation, Founder and CEO of APO Group Nicolas Pompigne-mognard said, “APO Group congratulates Frank and is proud to offer this opportunity to an experienced reporter with a rich background. APO Group offers invitations each year to major African events as part of our commitment to supporting journalism in Africa and creating opportunities for journalists to learn and grow across Africa.”
