Kupakwashe Desmond Mukurumbira joins Qantara Sports as Associate Partner
Kupakwashe Desmond Mukurumbira, an expert in the sports industry, has joined Qantara Sports as an Associate Partner.
An internationally recognized sport business leader and advocate for safe sport, Kupakwashe Desmond Mukurumbira will lead the Safeguarding in Sport practice of Qantara Sports.
Headquartered in Portugal, Qantara Sports is an award-winning advisory firm with offices in Lisbon, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates. The consulting firm has expertise in all segments of the sports landscape, from professional sports to recreational, educational, and tourism.

Mukurumbira brings extensive leadership experience to the firm. Previously, he served as General Manager at Tennis Zimbabwe, where he led the organization’s growth through strategic public–private partnerships, particularly in junior tennis development and coach education.
As a Program Manager at the Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board, he oversaw the transformation of high-performance systems, leading to the development of four world champions and the successful hosting of international and continental boxing events.
Mukurumbira has served on the Advisory Boards of the FIFA’s Safe Football Unit, UNICEF’s Safeguarding Children in Sport Initiative, Safe Sport International, and Safe Football Allies, as well as acting as a Consultant for the Council of Europe. He is a five-time recipient of the Sport and Recreation Business Academic Excellence Award from the Centre for Biokinetics, Sport Science, Recreation and Leisure in South Africa.
Based in Zimbabwe, Mukurumbira will also support Qantara Sports with expanding its portfolio of social impact projects across Africa.
