Former Gambian minister Momodou Sabally launches own consultancy
The former Presidential Affaris Minister for Gambia, Momodou Sabally has embarked on a new venture, launching his own consulting firm by the name of Pen’s Den Consulting. The firm takes on the nature of a social entrprenuership institution, not strictly revolving around profit.
Having grown up in Banjul in Gambia, Momodou Sabally has become one of the most prominent economists and statisticians in the country. He graduated as valedictorian with a major in Mathematics and a Minor in Economics from the Saint Mary’s University Extension Program (UEP). Since then, he has gained significant attention for his achievements in a number of fields.
He began his career as the Youth Officer for the Western Division, operating from the Commisioner’s Office in Brikama. During this time, he worked with young professionals across the country, as well as across the world, having attended the First International Conference of Young Leaders in Taiwan.
Sabally then took up a job as an Economist in the research department at the Central Bank of Gambia. Here, he worked with as well as trained with professionals from illustrious international economic institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bank of England, as well as the Central Bank of Switzerland.
Alongside being an illustrious author, having published a number of books in the field of economics, Sabally also briefly held the position of Minister for Presidential Affairs briefly in 2015. Now, he has delved into the world of social entrepreneurship, launching a consulting firm by the name of Pen’s Den Consulting.
As an organisation that is not explicitly driven by profit-motives, Pen’s Den aims to generate and maintain social value. The objectives of the firm range from educating and inspiring African youth, to building the image of Gambia as a country through promotion of its institutions and personalities.
To this end, the company will assist talented young professionals with placements in big organisations across the domestic and international markets. Services will include PR, publishing, corporate speaking and retreats, management consulting, speech writing, macroeconomic analysis and policy advice, as well as youth empowerment and leadership coaching. In order to assist with the dissemination of the firm’s ethos, Sabally has also launched a magazine by the name of Glo Magazine, which will operate on a fortnightly basis.
