Matine Consulting supporting Tunisia’s Economic Transformation Outlook project
Tunisia’s Country Economic Transformation Outlook project has kicked off, with the African Center for Economic Transformation and Matine Consulting appointed as knowledge partners.
The national-scale project aims to analyze Tunisia’s macroeconomic dynamics over the past 20 years, identify inclusive growth opportunities, and identify barriers to the country’s structural transformation. With these insights, a so-called Country Economic Transformation agenda can be created, providing insights into how Tunisia at the macro-level could strengthen its economy.
On March 19, 2025, the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) and Matine Consulting organized the launch workshop, bringing together high-level representatives from Tunisia’s main public institutions to brainstorm on current bottlenecks, and shape future strategies.
Organizations which were represented included: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Planning, Ministry of Communication Technologies, Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Women, Family, Children and Elderly, Central Bank of Tunisia, Tunisian Institute of Competitiveness and Quantitative Studies, and Tunisia Investment Authority.
Having completed the launch, the project team has now entered the analysis phase. The coming months will be dedicated to data collection and analysis, stakeholder consultation, and developing strategic recommendations to support Tunisia’s economic transformation.
The analysis is being based on the DEPTH methodological framework, developed by ACET, which evaluates economic transformation through 5 complementary dimensions: economic diversification; export and competitiveness in international markets; labor productivity; technology and innovation; and human capital.
Commenting on the firm’s contribution to the project, Ouissem Ghorbel, Co-Founder and General Manager of Matine Consulting (ex-McKinsey), said: “As ACET’s local partner in Tunisia, Matine Consulting is proud to contribute to this strategic reflection serving the country’s economic development.”
